Typical Burglary Alarm.

The typical Environmental Alarm consists of the following devices. Additional devices can be found under the other sections depending on what your secure environment consists of.

Components of a Environmental Alarm System

bulletControl Communicator - This device is where the intelligence resides regarding system operation.

All sensors and annunciation devices are connected through wires or wireless transmitters to the control/communicator.

Once the system is programmed the control/communicator receives signals from the sensors (Smoke Detectors, Heat Detectors, Co2 Detectors,  ...)  and actives output devices (Sirens, Strobes, Communicates to Monitoring) as programming directs it to.

Keypad- The keypad can be viewed as the user interface just like key for your car.

It enables you to view the status of the sensors. It enables you to silence the alarm.

It allows you to test the system for proper operation.

It also allows you to reset the system after an event.

Door Contact - The door contact allows the control communicator to know if the door is open or closed. Door co come in a variety of styles to accommodate wooden doors, metal door, overhead doors, gates, safes, barn doors or even roof hatches.

Window Contact - The window contact allows the control communicator to know if the window is open or closed. Window contacts come in a variety of styles to accommodate double hung, crank out, or vertical slide windows.

Glass Break - Glass break detectors are very useful for large windows that would allow a burglar to gain entry or move large amounts of assets through the window. They actually listen for the sound of breaking glass and the vibration that is present during glass breakage.

Motion Detectors - The motion detectors come in a variety of styles to accommodate the most challenging environments. Including passive infrared, microwave, and ultrasonic. The most versatile motion detector available is the combination passive infrared/microwave motion detector as it prevents many of the false allows that are prevalent with single technology detectors.

Audible Alerts - These device alert the local occupants and surrounding people of an violation of the security environment at the property. There will typically be sounders installed inside the protected area and outside the protected area to notify neighbors of the event. Neighbors should not approach the property but observe any vehicles or people coming or going from the property.

Back-Up Communications - These devices use radio and cellular technology to ensure the monitoring station receives the signals even in the event of a telephone line failure.
