Typical Burglary Alarm.
The typical Environmental Alarm consists of the
following devices. Additional devices can be found under the other sections
depending on what your secure environment consists of.
Components of a Environmental Alarm
System

 | Control Communicator - This device is
where the intelligence resides regarding system operation.
All sensors and annunciation devices are connected
through wires or wireless transmitters to the control/communicator.
Once the system is programmed the
control/communicator receives signals from the sensors (Smoke Detectors, Heat
Detectors, Co2 Detectors, ...) and actives output devices (Sirens,
Strobes, Communicates to Monitoring) as programming directs it to.

 |
Keypad- The keypad can be viewed as the user interface just like key for your car.
It
enables you to view the status of the sensors. It enables you to silence the
alarm.
It allows
you to test the system for proper operation.
It also
allows you to reset the system after an event.

Door Contact
- The door contact allows the control communicator to know if the door is
open or closed. Door co come in a variety of styles to accommodate wooden
doors, metal door, overhead doors, gates, safes, barn doors or even roof
hatches.
|

 |
Window Contact
- The window contact allows the control communicator to know if the window
is open or closed. Window contacts come in a variety of styles to
accommodate double hung, crank out, or vertical slide windows.
|

 |
Glass Break
- Glass break detectors are very useful for large windows that would allow
a burglar to gain entry or move large amounts of assets through the
window. They actually listen for the sound of breaking glass and the
vibration that is present during glass breakage.
|

 |
Motion Detectors
- The motion detectors come in a variety of styles to accommodate the most
challenging environments. Including passive infrared, microwave, and
ultrasonic. The most versatile motion detector available is the
combination passive infrared/microwave motion detector as it prevents many
of the false allows that are prevalent with single technology detectors.
|

 |
Audible Alerts
- These device alert the local occupants and surrounding people of an
violation of the security environment at the property. There will
typically be sounders installed inside the protected area and outside the
protected area to notify neighbors of the event. Neighbors should not
approach the property but observe any vehicles or people coming or going
from the property. |
|
|

 |
Back-Up Communications
- These devices use radio and cellular technology to ensure the monitoring
station receives the signals even in the event of a telephone line
failure.
